AB 14 – Laird Discrimination: Civil Rights Act of 2007: Enacts the Civil Rights Act of 2007 redefining discrimination laws

AB 510 – Benoit Employment: working hours: Allows workers a flexible schedule to work 10 hour days without the employer having to pay overtime.  

AB 537 – Swanson Family and medical leave: Increases the circumstances under which an employee is entitled to protected leave.  

AB 592 – Dymally Payment of wages: Exempts temp agencies from paying employees immediately so long as wages are paid weekly.  

AB 1467 – DeSaulnier Worker safety: Limits smoking in certain places at the place of employment.  

SB 191 – Padilla Labor compliance programs: approved private entity: remedies: Allows a lawsuit to be filed against a labor compliance program who does not competently perform their responsibilities.  

SB 302 – Ducheney Unemployment insurance: California Workforce Investment Act: local boards: Restructures and revises provisions relating to local job training services. Imposes a state-mandated local program because of additional duties on local governments.  

SB 622 – Padilla Employment: misclassification of employees as independent contractors: This bill would prohibit willful misclassification of employees as independent contractors.

SB 836 – Kuehl Fair employment: familial status: Includes “familial status” as a basis upon which the right to seek, obtain and hold employment cannot be denied.
